KanafiADR's affiliation with Minute Mediation: Introducing Avinder Laroya

Uncertainty and disruption are two experiences and emotions many of us have faced in the last 18 months or so due to the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic. Many of us have experienced the loss of loved ones, ill health, physical distance from family and loved ones.

Consequently, it has become more apparent than ever the level of inequality in society, lack of social justice and the uprising of conflicts are sparking around the globe. It’s more important than ever before that the skills and tools of mediation and conflict management are vital as we navigate through these uncertainties.

My name is Avinder Laroya, and I am a CEDR accredited mediator and peace builder. In 2020 I established Minute Mediation a mediation and conflict resolution consultancy as a solution provider to resolve commercial cross border disputes.

Mediation as a procedure enables the participants in the dispute to have a direct voice in discussions and express their requirements at the table rather than through lawyers using legal jargon arguing the legal points of a case. The pandemic has highlighted many inequalities in society and as a consequence sparks of conflict have arisen amongst communities, these in turn affect business and the commercial supply chain has been impacted greatly over the last year.

There are many stakeholders who are interdependent within the supply chain in particular the manufacturing or creating products and services. These relationships are built over a period of time and not one off transactions. The success of one business is part of the supply chain relationship and when this spans over several countries the likelihood of disputes or conflict is heightened, in particular when communications breakdown due to unforeseen circumstances like the Covid 19 pandemic. Mediation as a process and procedure provides the opportunities for matters to be resolved with mutually agreed compensation for damages without any legal proceedings.

Avinder Laroya is a founding partner of Serenity Law LLP and of Minute Mediation, a conflict management and mediation consultancy. She is a commercial and workplace Mediator, and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in International Arbitration (MCIArb), Professional Negligence Lawyers Association (PNLA) and Mediators Beyond Borders (MBBI).

She has a strong belief that everyone should have the opportunity to have their voice heard, and to have equal access to justice. As a Mediator, Avinder provides the opportunity for the parties to work with someone who is impartial and confidential, the cornerstone of Mediation. She has more than 20 years’ experience as a private practice lawyer, first for London firms and then at her own virtual law firm Serenity Law LLP, since 2010. Her services extend to a diverse client base and includes real estate, corporate commercial, intellectual property, litigation, mediation, and arbitration.

In 2020 Avinder established her own mediation and conflict resolution consultancy Minute Mediation and further information can be found by clicking the link www.minutemediation.com
